Trip Program Details

Hi Friends and Family! 

I hope you’re doing well! I wanted to share something really exciting that I’ve been preparing for. During GCU’s spring break, from March 6–15, I’ll be heading to Costa Rica on a mission trip with a small team from Grand Canyon University’s Outdoor Recreation program. We’ll be partnering with Hike for Humanity to serve remote villages in the Talamanca mountains and share the message of Jesus with the Cabecar people.

To reach these villages, our team will be backpacking in and hiking over 3,000 feet of elevation while carrying everything we need for the 10-day trip. Once we get there, we’ll be helping with important community projects like leading youth programs, organizing activities for teens, hosting worship nights, visiting homes, and doing practical work and manual labor around the village. The goal is to build real relationships, serve where we’re most needed, and share encouragement and hope in Jesus with the people we meet.

This trip will definitely push me outside my comfort zone physically, mentally, and spiritually, but I’m really excited for the opportunity to grow and serve people in a part of the world I’ve never been to before. I truly believe this is something God is calling me to be part of. 

If you’re willing, here are a few things you could pray for:

-That God would continue to guide and prepare me for this trip

-That our team would work well together and serve effectively

-That the people we meet would feel supported and loved

-For safety and growth throughout the experience

The total cost of the trip is $2,100 (including airfare). I’m currently fundraising and my goal is to have all financial support raised by February 20. I am grateful for any support you’re able to give. I realize this is a lot, but I think that together our efforts can really help people in need. How to financially support:
Donations can be made through the Well Child International website, click Donate, and follow the steps. $200 is the minimum donation amount to receive a tax-deductible receipt from the organization.
